Storm Hannah and a busy week here at Ty Derw.

Storm Hannah blew in and caused some minor damage in the garden. Nothing our resident handyman (Jason) couldn’t put right. We had a small tree blow over, a few roof slates slipped and the obvious patio furniture that was strewn across the garden- its was a very wild night! The tree is now next years logs for the fire and the garden is back to how it should look. Young Harold was on lookout with his trusty ball whilst all the work was carried out.

Our Honeysuckle azalea is in full bloom in the front garden and smells absolutely gorgeous. Such a shame the flowers don’t last.

We had a visit in the week from our egg supplier Sarah. Not only did she bring us fresh eggs but alongside her was Cammy a rescued lamb whom she has nursed back to health and will now be a permanent resident on the farm. Cammy loved playing around in our front garden.

Our nesting bluetits have layed four or possibly five eggs to date. She is still not sitting on them so hopefully more to come.We did manage a quick picture of the first egg before she covered it over with nesting material.

It’s been a busy week with guests. We have had a lovely group of people with us this week that have been meeting up for an annual get together for many years. This year is their 30th year and we felt very honoured that they chose to spend it with us! It’s great fun when we have a large party that fills the whole house, we love getting to know people and hopefully helping to make their stay enjoyable.

We’ve a busy weekend in store with all our guests that are here for the Machynlleth Comedy festival, the weather looks set to be sunny for all over the next few days so hopefully a good time will be had by all. We don’t have any celebrity guests this year but we do have a selfie from last years comedy festival guests Aisling Bea and Michael Sheen. Just a little name dropping!😁

Have a great bank holiday all.

Gill and Jason
